Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to perform physical cleaning tasks including dusting mopping scrubbing disinfecting vacuuming and polishing
  • ability to empty trash and medical waste containers safely
  • ability to inventory and restock supplies
  • ability to maintain and protect cleaning equipment
  • ability to respond effectively to patients staff and visitors
  • ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • willingness to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week
  • ability to learn and apply food handling regulations and pass certification tests if assigned to specialized areas
  • ability to follow safety policies procedures and chemical handling instructions
  • ability to work independently without continuous supervision

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous related experience with environmental services or housekeeping preferred
  • familiarity with cleaning equipment and techniques preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively with others by phone and verbally
  • ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and chemical instructions
  • capability to work independently and as part of a team
  • ability to respond to verbal and written instructions
  • additional related education and experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting mopping scrubbing disinfecting vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
  • Empties hampers and transports soiled linen
  • empties trash containers and removes all trash
  • empties all medical waste containers including sharps
  • Inventories restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue paper towels hand soap etc located in all assigned areas of the facility
  • Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary
  • protects equipment from damage by proper use
  • logs out and in equipment that has been used
  • Performs special projects such as window washing wall washing removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
  • Responds to questions and requests from patients staff and visitors
  • meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction
