Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ability to perform physical cleaning tasks including dusting mopping scrubbing disinfecting vacuuming and polishing
- ability to empty trash and medical waste containers safely
- ability to inventory and restock supplies
- ability to maintain and protect cleaning equipment
- ability to respond effectively to patients staff and visitors
- ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- willingness to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week
- ability to learn and apply food handling regulations and pass certification tests if assigned to specialized areas
- ability to follow safety policies procedures and chemical handling instructions
- ability to work independently without continuous supervision
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous related experience with environmental services or housekeeping preferred
- familiarity with cleaning equipment and techniques preferred
- ability to communicate effectively with others by phone and verbally
- ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and chemical instructions
- capability to work independently and as part of a team
- ability to respond to verbal and written instructions
- additional related education and experience preferred
Job Duties
- Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks including dusting mopping scrubbing disinfecting vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures
- Empties hampers and transports soiled linen
- empties trash containers and removes all trash
- empties all medical waste containers including sharps
- Inventories restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue paper towels hand soap etc located in all assigned areas of the facility
- Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary
- protects equipment from damage by proper use
- logs out and in equipment that has been used
- Performs special projects such as window washing wall washing removing heavily soiled items or furnishings
- Responds to questions and requests from patients staff and visitors
- meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction
