Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of industrial janitorial experience preferred
  • Experience in healthcare cleaning procedures and equipment use preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups including patients and staff
  • Capacity to follow detailed instructions and manage multiple tasks
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to emergency response training
  • Commitment to demonstrating core organizational values
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely
  • Valid work authorization and ability to work scheduled shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call as required.

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of experience in the industrial janitorial industry preferred
  • Experience with cleaning procedures and janitorial equipment in a healthcare environment strongly desired
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, peers, and colleagues
  • Ability to follow complex instructions involving task lists and assigned duties
  • Ability to learn and retain training related to emergency response such as fire, earthquake, storm, flood, and disaster protocols

Job Duties

  • Completes all assigned duties, tasks, and routine daily cleaning assignments in accordance with training and established standards within required timeframes
  • Communicates pertinent information, problems, and unresolved issues to Lead or Supervisor and maintains accurate documentation
  • Interacts with patients, visitors, staff, and leaders using friendly, respectful, and clear communication
  • Complies with Infection Prevention Policies, including proper hand hygiene, universal precautions, and donning and doffing of protective apparel and equipment
  • Handles, labels, stores, uses proper dilution of, and disposes of chemicals according to manufacturer instructions and department policies
  • Manages proper handling of soiled and clean linen in accordance with standard procedures
  • Prioritizes assigned duties and responds effectively to changing demands in assigned work areas
  • Safely operates all equipment according to training and standard work
  • Maintains effective communication and interpersonal relationships
  • Complies with hospital and departmental policies and attends staff meetings, training sessions, and follows verbal/written instructions
  • Supports leadership in meeting or exceeding organizational standards required by The Joint Commission, Patient Safety, and Department of Health Services
  • Operates UV disinfection equipment as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
