Job Requirements
- Basic knowledge of Environmental Services tasks
- ability to follow written and oral instructions in English
- education level normally attained in secondary school courses
- effective interpersonal communication skills
- three to six months on-the-job training in Environmental Services procedures, equipment and products
- physical ability to perform continuous walking, standing, bending, pulling and pushing
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- experience working in healthcare environments such as acute care hospitals or physician offices
- adherence to safety procedures and use of Personal Protective Equipment
- ability to work evening shifts and rotating weekends and holidays
- no driving required

- familiarity with infection control standards and cleaning protocols in healthcare settings
Job Duties
- Scrubs and strips floors to remove all soil and finish and wax to base of floor
- refinishes and recoats floors and buffs to a glossy appearance
- operates power equipment
- shampoos carpets and removes spots from carpets
- checks power equipment and transports to assigned work area
- performs daily cleaning and supplying of the area as defined on the floor schedule
- operates UV-light in accordance with department policies
- sets up meeting and conference rooms
- performs routine and terminal cleaning of procedural areas including Operating Rooms and Cath Lab
- maintains surplus storage areas and equipment rooms in a clean, orderly and safe condition
- reports any necessary repair needs to supervisor
- prepares cleaning solutions as required
- cleans elevators, restrooms, and all fixtures
- cleans vents, lights, aluminum, washes ceilings and walls
- vacuums rugs and carpets
- hangs and changes drapes and cubicle curtains
- transports trash and compacts according to established hospital procedures
- performs duties assigned during fire or internal community disaster
- maintains policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
- performs duties of Environmental Services Department Aide as required
- performs runner tasks including transport of dirty laundry, supplies, furniture and equipment as needed
- performs other duties as assigned
