  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy while directing co-workers
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to operate all types of housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor machines, carpet extractors, auto-scrubbers, pressure / steam cleaning machines
  • Fire Safety card within 90 days of hire

  • High School Graduate or GED preferred
  • Previous experience in health care environmental services preferred

Job Duties

  • Provides daily patient room cleaning including trash removal, high and low dusting, dust mopping, mopping, bathroom cleaning and replenishing dispensers
  • Provides discharge patient room cleaning including trash removal, sanitizing furniture, high and low dusting, wall washing, the stripping, cleaning and making of the bed and replenishing supplies
  • Cleans common areas and provides routine corridor cleaning in assigned area
  • Follows the hospital and department policies and procedures to perform cleaning of support areas such as offices, supply areas, nurses' stations, waiting areas, utility rooms
  • Maintains adequate supplies for standard precautions and properly utilizes isolation techniques
  • Handles biohazardous waste properly including the changing of sharps containers
