Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in cleaning or janitorial roles preferred
- ability to understand and perform seven-step cleaning procedures
- familiarity with waste handling including regulated medical and radioactive materials
- ability to follow safety and infection control guidelines
- capability to operate cleaning equipment
- ability to work flexible shifts if necessary
- physical capability to perform manual cleaning tasks
- willingness to wear appropriate uniform and maintain hygiene standards
Job Qualifications

- ability to use departmental cleaning equipment and supplies
- knowledge of safety procedures and infection control
- ability to follow detailed instructions and cleaning protocols

Job Duties
- Follows seven-step cleaning sequence of activities as applicable
- cleans assigned areas to a satisfactory standard
- completes daily assignments efficiently using appropriate equipment and supplies
- implements modifications to cleaning procedures as directed
- maintains equipment and supplies orderly
- replaces cubicle curtains according to policy
- follows bed tracking workflows and ensures timely response
- cleans and disinfects clinical and non-clinical equipment
- completes non-routine tasks as assigned
- removes trash and replenishes liners with correct waste bags
- inspects all waste for regulated medical or sharp objects and reports findings
- empties trash cans and recycling bins before capacity
- damp wipes trash receptacles
- removes soiled linen from designated areas
- exchanges sharps and chemo containers for pickup
- secures recycling bins containing confidential information
- breaks up and compacts boxes daily
- performs radiation checks on waste and handles radioactive waste per protocol
- follows safety procedures including placing wet floor signs
- wears appropriate attire and changes uniform daily
- practices hand hygiene after specific cleaning activities
- uses 2% CHG soap in patient areas and disposes expired soap
- uses disposable towels in exam and chemotherapy rooms
- performs project work such as floor refinishing, rug cleaning, wall washing, elevator track cleaning, steam cleaning furniture and rolling stock, dusting light diffusers
- performs snow removal and sidewalk washing if applicable
- cleans food pantry areas as assigned
- assists with moves, bed replacement, and furniture clearing
- performs operating room cycle cleaning tasks
- responds to pest control requests performing vacuum and steam treatments
