Job Requirements

  • Equivalent to two years of high school preferred
  • up to three months experience to become proficient in all aspects of the position
  • ability to read and follow instructions
  • ability to work night shift including every weekend and every holiday
  • reliable and able to report maintenance issues promptly
  • able to operate cleaning equipment safely
  • willingness to wear proper protective clothing for precaution room cleaning

Job Qualifications

  • Equivalent to two years of high school preferred
  • ability to read and follow instructions
  • ability to engage in respectful patient interactions without violating HIPAA
  • prior experience in hospital or healthcare cleaning preferred
  • knowledge of cleaning agents and techniques
  • strong attention to detail and safety practices

Job Duties

  • Coordinates with nursing staff and supervisor to clean occupied rooms first, checks empty rooms, attends to emergency cleaning for spills
  • uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning patient rooms daily including bucket cleaning, damp mopping or vacuuming floors, dusting furniture and ledges, emptying and relining wastebaskets, spot washing walls and windows including telephones, TV controls, and doors
  • cleans restrooms thoroughly including basins, commodes, tubs, showers, mirrors, soap dishes, water pipes, dusts ledges, damp mops floors, empties wastebaskets and restocks supplies
  • performs periodic detail cleaning of IV poles, blood pressure cuff leads, suction bottles, closets, curtains, and blinds
  • dry mops and damp mops corridors and spot washes corridor and elevator landings
  • maintains all carpets by vacuuming, extracting, bonnet cleaning and spot cleaning
  • hangs curtains if needed and checks condition of equipment, cleans equipment upon return and reports maintenance needs
  • displays a can do attitude and delivers excellent customer service including greeting patients and assisting visitors and reporting patient needs to nursing staff
  • cleans precaution (isolation) patient rooms using proper protective clothing and cleaning methods
  • understands mixing and proper use of cleaning agents
