Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Up to three months to become proficient in all aspects of the position
  • Ability to read and follow instructions
  • Availability to work night shift from 11PM to 7:30AM
  • Willingness to work every weekend and every holiday
  • Ability to handle physical demands of the job
  • Ability to use cleaning agents correctly
  • Willingness to display a positive and helpful attitude
  • Ability to comply with hospital safety and privacy protocols

Job Qualifications

  • Equivalent to two years of high school preferred
  • Ability to read and follow instructions
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently during night shifts
  • Familiarity with hospital cleaning protocols preferred
  • Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks

Job Duties

  • Coordinate with nursing staff and supervisor to clean occupied rooms first
  • Use appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning patient rooms daily including bucket cleaning, damp mopping or vacuuming floors, dusting furniture and removing debris
  • Clean restrooms thoroughly by washing basins, commodes, tubs, showers, mirrors, soap dishes, water pipes and exterior surfaces
  • Perform periodic detail cleaning including IV poles, blood pressure cuff leads, suction bottles, closets, curtains and blinds
  • Dry mop and damp mop corridors and spot wash corridor and elevator landings
  • Maintain carpets by vacuuming, extracting, bonnet cleaning and spot cleaning
  • Check and clean own cleaning equipment and report any maintenance or repairs needed immediately
  • Display a positive customer service attitude including greeting patients and assisting visitors
  • Use proper protective clothing and cleaning techniques when cleaning precaution (isolation) patient rooms
  • Knowledge of mixing cleaning agents and proper use of each agent
