Job Requirements
- minimum of two years of high school education preferred
- up to three months of training to become proficient in all aspects of the position
- ability to read and follow instructions
- ability to wear protective clothing and handle cleaning chemicals safely
- capability to perform physical tasks such as mopping, dusting, waxing, and cleaning various hospital areas
- strong interpersonal skills to communicate with patients and hospital staff
- willingness to work diligently and follow infection control protocols
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- coordinates with the nursing staff and supervisor to clean occupied rooms first
- uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning patient rooms daily
- uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning restrooms
- performs periodic detail cleaning such as I.V. poles, blood pressure cuff leads, suction bottles, closets inside and out, and curtains or blinds
- dry mops and damp mops corridors and spot washes corridor and elevator landings
- maintains all carpets by vacuuming, extracting, bonnet cleaning and spot cleaning
- hangs curtains if needed and checks condition of own equipment, cleans equipment upon return and reports maintenance or repair needs immediately
- displays a can do attitude within the department and across departmental lines, greets patients and assists visitors as needed
- uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning isolation patient rooms, wearing proper protective clothing during the process
- knowledge of the mixing of cleaning agents and the proper use of each agent
