Job Requirements
- Minimum education equivalent to two years of high school preferred
- up to three months to become proficient in all aspects of the position
- ability to read and follow instructions
- physical ability to perform cleaning tasks
- ability to use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely
- adherence to hospital hygiene and safety standards
- willingness to wear protective clothing when required
Job Qualifications

- ability to read and follow instructions
- prior experience in cleaning or environmental services is an asset but not required
- good interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to work cohesively within a hospital team environment
- knowledge of hospital hygiene and infection control standards is beneficial
- willingness to learn and adapt to hospital cleaning protocols
Job Duties
- Coordinates with the nursing staff and supervisor to clean occupied rooms first, checks empty rooms, attends to emergency cleaning for spills
- uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning patient rooms daily
- uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques in washing and cleaning restrooms
- performs periodic detail cleaning of IV poles, blood pressure cuff leads, suction bottles, closets, curtains, and blinds
- dry mops and damp mops corridors
- spot washes corridor and elevator landings
- maintains all carpets with vacuuming, extracting, bonnet cleaning, and spot cleaning as needed
- hangs curtains if needed and checks the condition of cleaning equipment
- cleans equipment upon return
- reports any maintenance or repairs needed immediately
- continuously displays a 'can do' attitude within the department and across departmental lines contributing to customer service
- greets patients when entering and exiting rooms
- assists patients or visitors in common areas when needed
- acknowledges visiting family members and friends when servicing rooms
- reports patient needs and requests to nursing staff
- uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques for precaution or isolation rooms wearing proper protective clothing
- knows how to mix cleaning agents and use each properly
