Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • ability to maintain a sterile environment using proper cleaning procedures and various equipment
  • ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • good written and verbal communication skills
  • well-developed time management and organizational skills
  • ability to operate basic environmental service equipment including mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, washers, and dryers
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • willing to work evening shifts and every other weekend
  • ability to adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations including handling hazardous drugs according to NIOSH and USP 800 guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • knowledge of maintaining a sterile environment including proper cleaning procedures and various equipment
  • ability to interpret data and instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • written and verbal communication skills
  • well-developed time management and organizational skills
  • ability to operate basic environmental service equipment

  • ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems
  • ability to build collaborative relationships with staff

Job Duties

  • maintain a clean, attractive, and safe environment in assigned areas
  • perform a variety of cleaning, transport, equipment handling, room set-up, trash removal, and linen handling duties
  • clean patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned facility areas
  • distribute supplies to departments and maintain stock levels
  • adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures related to sanitization and safety
  • operate basic environmental service equipment such as mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, washers, and dryers
  • build collaborative relationships with peers and hospital personnel to achieve departmental and corporate objectives
