Job Requirements
- Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not required
- ability to use common housekeeping equipment including mechanical equipment such as brooms, mops, buffers, extractors, vacuum machines, scouring pads, dust rags
- good manual dexterity
- ability to follow safety policies and procedures regarding cleaning and equipment
- ability to perform physical tasks involving bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods
- ability to work under supervision and as part of a team.

Job Duties
- Receives cleaning assignments, supplies, and equipment for work day at the beginning of the shift
- performs a final check and cleans up at the end of the shift
- collects supplies from Environmental Services supply room at the beginning of the shift
- maintains tools and equipment in good condition and reports needed repairs or safety hazards immediately
- proceeds to assigned areas to begin daily cleaning tasks
- follows all safety policies and procedures with regards to equipment placement and labeled bottles
- cleans carts and equipment according to standardized procedures
- performs cleanup 15 minutes before the end of the shift
- maintains a germ-free, clean, and orderly area
- thoroughly cleans each area following Environmental Services protocols including delivery and C-section rooms
- uses proper chemicals and equipment as per supervisory guidance
- completes cleaning according to inspection and quality assurance standards
- cleans walls, vents, ceilings, doors, and waste receptacles as needed
- ensures areas are completely cleaned as noted on supervisor's rounds
- cleans stretchers, stools, utility tables, IV poles, and overhead lights
- sanitizes laboratories
- performs daily cleaning of lounges and locker rooms
- replaces light bulbs as needed
- notifies Central when delivery carts have been used
- removes and replaces used suction bottles and tests suction
- resets oxygen
- maintains cleanliness of LDRs and C-section rooms
- transports patients after delivery
- fills antiseptic dispensers
- stocks daily deliveries and warmers
- performs floor care including spray buffing and stripping as instructed
- completes scheduled projects and evaluates results
- follows proper waste handling, storage, transportation, and disposal procedures including municipal, chemotherapy, and medical wastes
- takes proper barrier precautions when handling wastes
- responds to emergencies and fire or disaster calls
- demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures
- assists as needed
- cleans other areas as requested
- completes weekly cleaning and maintenance reports
- inspects and tests equipment daily
- trains new employees in cleaning procedures
- develops technical and operational knowledge and skills
- maintains knowledge of products and chemicals and their hazards.
