Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of related experience
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stretch for majority of shift
- Ability to lift 30 to 60 pounds
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums and floor machines
- Ability to follow safety and infection control procedures
- Ability to communicate basic English
- May require occasional climbing of ladders
- Ability to interact cooperatively with staff, visitors, and patients

- Ability to operate heavy duty cleaning equipment
- Familiarity with infection control practices

Job Duties
- Maintains a cleaning cart in an orderly condition and fully stocked with supplies
- Responsible for removal of all waste including rubbish, cardboard, recycle paper, and hazardous material
- Uses appropriate chemicals and tools to dust and disinfect floors, including placing wet floor signs
- Empties and cleans waste receptacles, replaces liners, and disposes of trash properly
- Cleans and disinfects bathrooms and replenishes supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, and soap
- Disinfects patient rooms and makes beds of discharged or transferred patients
- Thoroughly cleans beds with disinfectant and changes linens upon patient discharge
- Transports linen hampers to designated areas and replaces linen bags
- Performs project work such as wall washing, cubicle changing, waste container cleaning, and window washing
- Damp dusts, polishes, and disinfects furniture and vacuums carpets
- Sets up furniture and audio-visual equipment for functions and cleans before and after
- Operates heavy duty cleaning equipment including wet vacuums, extractors, floor machines, and buffers
- Collects and disposes of needle boxes following procedures
- Reports equipment problems to supervisor
- Completes daily inspections of assigned areas
- Follows infection control practices
- Oversees work assigned to the crew during shifts
- May clean and sanitize Operating Rooms including hazardous biological waste disposal
