Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in cleaning or housekeeping preferred
  • ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures and use cleaning chemicals safely
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • physical capability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing as needed
  • punctual and reliable attendance
  • completion of all required mandatory training and certifications
  • compliance with health and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and numbers
  • ability to write simple correspondence and respond to common inquiries or complaints
  • good working knowledge of department-related computer systems including Bed Management systems
  • must be able to complete mandatory educational training

Job Duties

  • Provide cleaning services to patient and non-patient areas
  • adhere to all standards of behavior and exhibit excellent customer service skills
  • communicate with patients, visitors, and customers using designated scripting and engagement techniques
  • clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage rooms, and other directed areas using appropriate chemicals and procedures
  • clean patient beds, furniture, light fixtures, ceiling vents, windows, window coverings, restroom fixtures, IV poles, Murphy beds, floors, and carpets
  • replenish supplies, remove bio-medical waste, trash, and soiled linen
  • change cubicle and window curtains as needed
  • complete patient room and bathroom cleaning daily to accommodate discharges and admissions, utilizing approved procedures and bed management systems
  • maintain punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies
  • adhere to all Orlando Health policies and procedures
  • comply with all standards of precaution, SDS, and hand hygiene directives
  • complete mandatory training and attend in-services
  • participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement activities
  • maintain productivity and volume standards
  • keep current with all policies and procedures
  • participate in other related duties not directly assigned
