Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of health and safety management experience in hazardous waste or emergency response
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour supervisor/refresher as applicable
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification
- ICS/NIMS Training
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations
- Proven leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to lead emergency response efforts
- Ability to conduct site inspections and risk assessments
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field or 8 years of related field and management experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in hazardous waste or emergency response environments
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations
- Experience with emergency response planning and incident command systems (ICS)
- Leadership abilities to lead safety initiatives and emergency teams effectively
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Collaborative approach to teamwork
- Ability to remain calm and adaptable in dynamic or emergency situations
- Attention to detail in inspections, documentation, and compliance
- Supportive mentoring and coaching skills to promote safe practices
Job Duties
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and other applicable regulations
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Site Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
- Lead emergency response efforts including chemical spills, fires, and medical emergencies
- Serve as Incident Commander or Safety Officer during emergency events
- Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Deliver HAZWOPER and emergency response training to site personnel
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate safety records and report performance metrics
- Collaborate with site supervisors, contractors, and regulatory agencies
