Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum 5 years of health and safety management experience
  • current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • 8-hour supervisor/refresher certification
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification
  • ICS/NIMS training
  • strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations
  • ability to lead emergency response teams
  • excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • ability to conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses
  • experience with incident command systems
  • ability to maintain accurate safety records

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field or 8 years of related field and management experience
  • minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in hazardous waste or emergency response environments
  • strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations
  • experience with emergency response planning and incident command systems (ICS)
  • ability to lead safety initiatives and emergency teams effectively
  • clear and professional verbal and written communication
  • strong analytical skills to identify and resolve safety issues
  • collaborative approach to working with diverse teams
  • calm and flexible in dynamic or emergency situations
  • thorough in inspections, documentation, and compliance

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and other applicable regulations
  • develop, implement, and maintain the Site Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
  • lead emergency response efforts including chemical spills, fires, and medical emergencies
  • serve as Incident Commander or Safety Officer during emergency events
  • conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
  • deliver HAZWOPER and emergency response training to site personnel
  • investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
  • maintain accurate safety records and report performance metrics
  • collaborate with site supervisors, contractors, and regulatory agencies
