Job Qualifications
- Must be able to read, understand and carry out written guidelines and procedures
- Must be able to interpret and follow labeled directions for cleaning product use
- Must comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions in a timely manner
- Knowledge of safe work habits and injury prevention
- Ability to use computer systems for time management and training
- Demonstrated professionalism and excellent customer service skills
- Ability to adjust and demonstrate cultural competence when interacting with diverse populations
- Willingness to attend ongoing training and education
Job Duties
- Performs full range of basic and specialty cleaning tasks including high and low dusting, wall washing, fixture cleaning, mopping, vacuuming and spot cleaning carpet
- Selects, measures, and mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals using automatic dispensing systems
- Assembles materials, supplies and equipment needed for tasks and properly stores items after use
- Services dispensers with paper and soap products
- Removes, transports and disposes of solid waste, sharps, regulated medical waste and pharmaceutical drug waste according to protocols
- Exercises safe work habits to prevent accidents and injuries
- Remains observant of area conditions and submits work orders when needed
- Maintains positive attendance and punctuality
- Performs cleaning duties in various hospital and associated areas including Surgery, Patient Units, Emergency Department and Physician Practices
- Responds to STAT bed cleaning and end of shift cleaning needs promptly
- Performs floor care projects including stripping, scrubbing, refinishing and burnishing floors
- Operates basic laundry equipment and maintains cleanliness of work areas
- Ensures hazardous waste is managed and disposed of properly with training compliance
- Participates in movement and arrangement of furniture for events and training sessions
- Attends in-service education programs to improve cleaning skills
