With a strong emphasis on safety, quality control, and operational excellence, Halifax Health ensures that its facilities meet the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene to support the health and comfort of everyone on its premises.
The Environmental Aide position plays a crucial role within Halifax Health’s support services team. This role is fundamental in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment, directly impacting patient satisfaction and safety. Specifically, the Environmental Aide is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks during the night shift to ensure that the hospital areas remain in pristine condition. This includes routine area cleaning, floor care, trash disposal, and sanitation of equipment such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
This position requires an individual who is self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. The Environmental Aide will regularly interact with patients and visitors, requiring a friendly demeanor and professional attitude. The role is ideal for someone with prior custodial experience who values attention to detail and understands the importance of adhering to hospital safety policies and emergency procedures.
The Environmental Aide is also involved in emergency preparedness by participating in drills and actual emergency responses as outlined in Halifax Health’s Emergency Preparedness Manual. In addition to day-to-day cleaning duties, the aide will occasionally move furniture and equipment and is responsible for the maintenance and proper use of cleaning supplies and department equipment. Maintaining quality control standards for all assigned areas is an essential part of the role, ensuring that cleanliness and hygiene meet hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
This is a night-shift role, making it well-suited for individuals comfortable working outside of typical business hours. Although the job description does not specify salary details, employment at Halifax Health likely includes competitive wages and benefits commonly offered by healthcare institutions of its caliber. Overall, the Environmental Aide position at Halifax Health offers an opportunity to support healthcare operations by ensuring a safe and clean environment, which is vital to the hospital’s mission of delivering excellent patient care and promoting community health.
