Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • previous custodial experience required
  • ability to work night shift
  • physical stamina for cleaning tasks and moving equipment
  • ability to follow instructions and hospital safety policies
  • reliable and punctual
  • able to work independently
  • good interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED equivalent highly preferred
  • previous custodial experience required
  • knowledge of cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment
  • ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
  • good communication skills for interacting with patients and staff
  • ability to work independently and self-motivated
  • familiarity with emergency preparedness procedures
  • physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting and moving furniture

Job Duties

  • perform checkout cleaning
  • area cleaning
  • floor care cleaning
  • police and clean assigned areas
  • dispose of trash from assigned work areas
  • dust mop
  • damp mop
  • maintain tile floors daily
  • vacuum
  • damp mop spots
  • maintain carpeted floors daily
  • occasionally move furniture and equipment
  • perform weekly cleaning in assigned areas
  • clean and sanitize trash cans
  • clean and sanitize wheelchairs
  • clean and sanitize stretchers and other rolling stock daily
  • maintain assigned areas according to quality control standards
  • wash and disinfect furniture and fixtures
  • utilize discretion and economically use supplies
  • clean and disinfect bed, bed controls, bed frame, motors, mattress upon patient discharge
  • maintain department and hospital equipment in good working condition
  • collect and dispose of refuse including cleaning and relining receptacles
  • greet patients with a smile and direct eye contact upon entering a room
  • maintain working knowledge of all hospital and departmental safety policies and procedures
  • participate in emergency preparedness drills and actual emergencies
  • perform other related duties as required
  • self-motivated worker who functions under little direct supervision
