The Environmental Services Technician role is essential within a healthcare setting, specifically designed to maintain cleanliness, safety, and hygiene to support the well-being of patients, visitors, and staff. Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • general housekeeping experience preferred
  • experience in healthcare cleaning procedures preferred

Job Duties

  • Practices the Eight-Step Method of cleaning
  • uses chemicals properly
  • understands assigned work area
  • maintains a QA rating of 90% or above in assigned work area
  • adheres to department standard for logging information into Bed Tracking
  • follows procedures for Standard Precautions
  • demonstrates proper handling and disposal of bio-hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • maintains and cleans housekeeping equipment
  • attends 100% of department monthly in-services
  • responds to 'Code' calls quickly and efficiently
  • strives to achieve high patient satisfaction
  • cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings and equipment and mopping floors with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants
  • assembles materials and supplies from the supply room and transports them to the work area
  • replenishes supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items
  • reports mechanical failures or negative conditions observed in assigned area to the Director or Linen Aide
  • gathers and disposes of trash, washes wastebaskets and large refuse containers, and relines with plastic bags
  • helps nursing staffs to clean the wheelchair weekly
  • removes soiled linens
  • periodically polishes floors with a buffing and polishing machine
  • covers laundry tasks as needed
