Job Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- prior experience within the senior care industry
- successfully clear a background check, TB skin test or x-ray, and health screening
- current CPR certification
- must have a valid driver's license
- current certificate of training for successful completion of the five (5) hour initial fire safety training provided by the Rules and Regulations of the Georgia Safety Fire Commissioner
- ability to work evenings, weekends and flexible hours when necessary
- ability to lift more than 25 lbs routinely and occasionally more than 50 lbs
- ability to transfer 150 lb or greater resident weight
- ability to sit 1-3 hours per day
- ability to stand 4-5 hours per day
- ability to walk 2-4 hours per day
- ability to bend, stoop, squat, and/or twist repeatedly
- ability to climb stairs repeatedly
- proficiency in computer skills and ability to learn new applications
- ability to follow policies and procedures
- maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA
- adherence to professional dress code
- ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities
- physical and cognitive abilities as required
- must participate in ongoing education and training
- ability to use telephone and computer equipment for several hours daily

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Ensures ability-based opportunities are available to the residents for socialization, personal growth, exercise, community integration, spiritual development, recreation and performance improvement
- executes activity programs created by the Engagement Director containing a balanced mixture of activities addressing cognitive, recreational, and activity of daily living (ADL) needs
- successfully implements the activity calendar on a daily basis
- works with residents who choose not to participate in large group activities to provide at least one small group or one-on-one activity per day
- reviews each resident's medical and social history, preferences, and dislikes in determining appropriate activities tailored to the residents' unique requirements and skills
- encourages client and family participation in activities of daily living to increase their independence and self-esteem
- trains, mentors and directs staff in facilitating activities
- plans quarterly in-house events that promote family, joy and socialization
- develops a monthly professional newsletter distributed to residents and mailed to recipients by the first day of each month
- directs, supervises and provides training for the community memory care program
- schedules outside entertainment for residents' enjoyment
- enrolls and coordinates volunteers to assist residents, offer special programs and support the overall activities program
- completes initial activities questionnaire with new residents and families to identify interests, talents, hobbies, spiritual preferences and social needs
- manages budgetary responsibilities including reviewing financial and budget transactions, assisting with budget development, and controlling expenses for the activities department
- interviews, hires, trains engagement assistants and drivers
- plans, assigns and directs work
- appraises performance
- addresses complaints and resolves problems
- leads decorating and celebrating major holidays
- ensures that residents of all religious preferences can celebrate their specific holidays
- maintains neat, inviting, and appealing activity and multipurpose rooms
- participates in Manager on Duty rotation and assists in dining room during resident meal times to ensure positive experience
- follows Orchard Senior Living policies, procedures, and professional dress code
- performs other related duties as assigned
