Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cleaning experience preferred
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
- Must pass pre-employment background check including employment verification and criminal history check
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening including compliance with DOT regulations
- Consent to release prior drug and alcohol testing records
- Willingness to adhere to Amtrak’s drug-free workplace policy
- Ability to work varying shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
- Willingness to travel extensively up to 100%
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Job Qualifications
- Familiarity with commercial and residential cleaning products and supplies
- Working knowledge of cleaning standards and procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays
- Ability to travel up to 100% as required
- Basic ability to follow instructions and procedures
Job Duties
- Follow all Amtrak policies, standards and procedures as directed by supervisor
- Carry supplies, bend, reach and perform physical cleaning tasks
- Report supply shortages to supervisor
- Report maintenance issues to conductor or train attendant
- Stock own cleaning kit
- Make announcements as specified
- Clean bathrooms including toilets, sinks, floors and replenish consumable items
- Empty waste bins in all train cars
- Remove trash from floors and seat backs of unoccupied seats
- Wipe and dry spilled liquids on seats
- Mop vestibule areas when wet due to weather
