Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid Advanced EMD or EMD-Q certification or obtain within six months of employment
  • Must obtain IAMTCS certification within eighteen months of employment
  • Must have current CPR certification
  • Recommended three years of experience as a paramedic or dispatcher or one year in a high call volume EMD dispatch center
  • Must have good verbal communication skills
  • Must have good written communication skills
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be able to function effectively in stressful situations
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in medical terms, conditions, and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Good written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficiency in medical terminology
  • Experience as a paramedic or dispatcher preferred
  • Experience in high call volume EMD dispatch center preferred

Job Duties

  • Receive and efficiently process incoming and outgoing emergency and non-emergency pre-hospital service requests
  • Utilize system status management for dispatch and coordination of emergency medical resources
  • Provide medical information using protocol-driven instructions
  • Assess and meet patient care needs for ground and air transportation according to established programs and procedures
  • Coordinate information and resources with other public safety agencies
  • Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology, conditions, and procedures
  • Function effectively in stressful and high call volume situations
