Job Requirements
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years experience in dispatching law enforcement, fire department, or EMS services
- Working knowledge of radio system and components
- Working understanding of radio broadcast procedures
- Familiarity with FCC rules and regulations
- Experience with computer-aided dispatch, dispatch software, UHF/VHF, and other radio frequencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms
- Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic Certification New Jersey
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification - BLS
- ICS 100, ICS 200, Hazardous Materials Awareness
- Basic Telecommunicator certification within 3 months of hire
- Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatch certification within 3 months of hire
Job Qualifications

- Experience with computer-aided dispatch and dispatch software

- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Experience working with case managers and insurance providers preferred
- Knowledge of county geo-political boundaries, highways, and landmarks preferred
Job Duties
- Receive and process incoming and outgoing telephone and radio communications
- Differentiate between routine and priority messages and initiate appropriate responses promptly
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and patient privacy policies
- Comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Record all requests for service through handwritten and computer entries
- Process 9-1-1 service requests including emergency medical call screening and provide pre-arrival instructions
- Dispatch EMS units using radio, telephone, or other communication equipment following established protocols
- Coordinate outsourced service requests with partner agencies and escalate concerns as necessary
- Maintain status and location of all EMS units and personnel
- Manage resource requests during large-scale incidents
- Collaborate with county Office of Emergency Management and NJ EMS Task Force representatives
- Communicate with other dispatch centers and document all relevant information between prehospital providers and receiving facilities
- Maintain hospital diversion logs and notify stakeholders as required
- Troubleshoot communication equipment problems and coordinate repairs
- Submit event reports as needed
- Validate documentation such as PCS forms by established protocols
- Perform other duties and projects assigned by leadership
- Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior
