Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field
  • minimum six years of experience in import/export compliance or related roles
  • deep understanding of federal export/import laws and regulations
  • experience preparing and managing export/import documentation
  • strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • willingness to travel up to 20 percent
  • ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree with minimum six years of relevant import/export compliance experience
  • or graduate degree with minimum four years of related experience
  • extensive knowledge of ITAR EAR FTR OFAC US Customs regulations and other participating government agencies such as FDA FCC ATF
  • experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers
  • proficient in Microsoft Office
  • ability to travel up to 20 percent
  • ability to obtain security clearance

Job Duties

  • prepare agreements in accordance with federal regulations to support international business initiatives including employment of foreign persons manufacturing abroad and sourcing and developing relationships with foreign entities
  • prepare export/import shipment documentation in accordance with federal regulations
  • interpret governmental responses and provide guidance to stakeholders
  • establish and maintain relations with government licensing authorities
  • analyze business initiatives per regulatory requirements and advise management on compliant execution
  • conduct training sessions for employees and assist in policy development
  • develop and conduct audits of internal controls and procedures
  • support external audits and government inquiries
  • influence product development decisions through technical jurisdictional analysis
  • act as the Empowered Official responsible for export program execution
  • maintain and improve internal export/import compliance policies
  • apply for and manage DoS and DoC authorizations
  • oversee division employee international travel and foreign visitors
  • work with service providers freight forwarders and customs brokers
  • provide strategic export/import guidance to stakeholders
  • attend training seminars
  • ensure full compliance for export and import transactions including documentation and record retention
  • assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications
  • monitor FDA and other regulatory compliance
  • ensure restricted party screening on transactions
  • verify jurisdiction/classification of items
  • provide training to increase compliance
  • conduct self-audits and implement corrective actions
  • assist with investigations of non-compliance
  • oversee response to trade compliance audits
