Job Requirements
- BART or BLS certification at time of hire
- Minimum one year of recent experience in emergency department, psychiatric, or critical care setting
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Strong interpersonal communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality care
- De-escalation and behavioral management training with intention to obtain CPI certification within six months
- Basic computer literacy
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs
- Must be able to work at UCSD East Campus, Hillcrest, and La Jolla hospitals
- Employment subject to criminal background check and pre-employment physical
Job Qualifications

- Minimum one year of recent experience in an emergency department, psychiatric, or critical care setting
- Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Excellent interpersonal communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality care
- De-escalation and behavioral management training with a commitment to get CPI within six months of the hire date
- Demonstrates computer knowledge and skills
- California EMT, MHW and/or CNA certification (preferred)
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) (preferred)
Job Duties
- Collect and document patient vital signs and observational data accurately and promptly
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensuring comfort and dignity
- Collect, label, and transport laboratory specimens in accordance with established protocols
- Prepare and set up for minor procedures
- assist RNs and physicians during procedures and resuscitation efforts
- Maintain patient and environmental safety, including serving as a sitter when assigned
- Support patient mobility, including safe transfers and transport to and from care areas
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain standard and specialized patient care equipment
- Manage supply logistics, ensuring availability and functionality of medical equipment and supplies
- Perform clerical and secretarial duties to support patient care coordination, including communication with physicians and other departments
- Participate in additional responsibilities such as scheduling, supply management, and shared governance committees, as assigned
