Job Requirements

  • must be an Alaska resident
  • ability to work shift work including holidays, irregular hours, and overtime
  • pass FBI fingerprint based criminal history check
  • pass Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment
  • obtain APSIN certification
  • ability to multitask and maintain emotional control during stressful situations
  • typing speed of 30 words per minute with no more than three errors per minute
  • minimum two years of work experience including clerical tasks

Job Qualifications

  • two years of relevant work experience including six months of clerical tasks
  • ability to type at net 30 words per minute with less than three errors per minute
  • knowledge of telecommunications principles and database management systems
  • ability to maintain composure and multitask during emergencies
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • ability to obtain and maintain APSIN certification and required background clearances

Job Duties

  • operate the Airport’s Communication Center and handle all calls for service
  • monitor airport security and fire systems for alarms
  • communicate effectively with Air Traffic Control and first responders
  • prioritize and process emergency and non-emergency calls using CAD
  • provide routine customer service and data entry
  • multitask in a high-pressure environment
  • work collaboratively with team members to coordinate responses
