Job Requirements

  • alaska residency
  • ability to pass FBI fingerprint-based criminal history check
  • transportation security administration security threat assessment
  • obtain and maintain alaska public safety information network certification
  • typing speed of 30 words per minute with no more than three errors
  • ability to multitask and maintain emotional control under stress
  • ability to work assigned shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • at least two years of work experience including clerical duties
  • successful completion of background investigation
  • submission of three professional references
  • submission of a typing test
  • submission of academic transcripts if using education to qualify

Job Qualifications

  • two years of work experience including six months performing clerical tasks
  • ability to type 30 words per minute with no more than three errors
  • knowledge of oral and written communication techniques
  • understanding of telecommunications systems
  • familiarity with database management and computer-aided dispatch systems
  • strong judgment and decision making skills
  • demonstrated ability to remain composed during emergencies

Job Duties

  • serve as primary communication link between air traffic control, airport police, fire, airport tenants and the public
  • operate the airport's communication center handling emergent and routine calls
  • monitor airport security and fire systems for alarms
  • coordinate response to aviation emergencies for first responders
  • answer calls, enter data, and prioritize events in a calm and efficient manner
  • multitask and maintain situation awareness of multiple incidents
  • provide excellent customer service and support
