Job Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- education equivalent to high school completion
- valid California Class C driver license
- current DMV driving record
- EMT-I certification
- San Diego County EMT accreditation by appointment time
- valid CPR certificate
- no federal or state felony convictions
- nonsmoker throughout employment
- residency within local San Diego, Riverside, Orange, or Los Angeles counties within one year
- ability to work up to 999 hours per fiscal year
- availability to work 24-hour shifts and mandated orientations
Job Qualifications
- Valid California Class C driver license
- current EMT-I certification as defined by the State of California EMS Authority
- accreditation as an EMT-I in San Diego County by time of appointment
- valid CPR certificate (minimum healthcare provider level)
- ability to perform under pressure and stressful conditions
- knowledge of EMT scope of practice and EMS procedures
- understanding of local geography and California vehicular laws
- strong interpersonal skills
- experience with documentation and reporting
Job Duties
- Operates ambulances safely
- transports patients according to department and San Diego County EMS policies
- responds to emergency medical calls and fire alarms
- performs BLS assessments and emergency medical treatments
- administers CPR, bandaging, and splinting
- prepares and maintains confidential medical reports
- participates in quality assurance and training activities
- cleans and maintains fire stations and equipment
- inspects fire hydrants
- contributes to public relations programs
