Job Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
  • One year of experience at an Emergency Communication System as an operator or from the field as a pre-hospital clinician
  • Experience working as a licensed Emergency Medical Technician or above or Emergency Medical Dispatcher
  • Must be subject to call 24 hours a day and provide a reachable telephone number
  • Subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations
  • Possession of a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license if assigned duties require operation of a motor vehicle

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
  • One year of experience at an Emergency Communication System as an operator or from the field as a pre-hospital clinician
  • Experience working as a licensed Emergency Medical Technician or above or Emergency Medical Dispatcher
  • Preferred certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or above
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle with valid Maryland driver’s license when required

Job Duties

  • Provides EMS Communications service to EMS field and hospital personnel
  • Coordinates medevac helicopter activity including calls requesting service
  • Assigns and dispatches appropriate aircraft
  • Monitors weather conditions and other factors related to flight safety
  • Monitors helicopter tracking tools for flight safety
  • Answers calls from EMS field personnel requiring communications with hospitals for notification or medical direction
