Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in emergency management or related field
- Certification and/or coursework in Emergency Management Institute's Advanced Professional Series (APS)
- Certification in FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS)
- Completion of required FEMA IS courses including IS 100.c (or updated), 130.a, 200.c (or updated), and others
- Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) within one year of employment
- Ability to obtain Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification within one year if not currently certified
- Experience in creating and developing emergency management plans including COOP, EOP, and EAP
- Experience in emergency management, law enforcement, fire and/or EMS
- Experience delivering emergency training and exercises
- Pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check
- Pass Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background and training
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible hours including emergency situations
- Ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and in teams

- Experience in emergency management plan development including COOP, EOP, and EAP
- Experience in emergency management, law enforcement, fire or EMS
- Experience delivering emergency training and exercises
- Ability to pass the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background and training
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills
- Ability to communicate effectively during high stress situations
- Ability to prepare technical reports
- Ability to make effective presentations
Job Duties
- Coordinate response and recovery efforts to campuses before, during and after an incident or planned event on a 24/7 basis
- Respond directly to incidents or events as necessary or directed
- Serve as a liaison to faculty, staff, and students on assigned campuses and with local governmental agencies, community organizations or others regarding emergency management specifics
- Meet with campus and college leadership regularly to ensure open communications and compliance with emergency management regulations
- Review and assure compliance with emergency management activities including Governor's Executive Orders, Clery Act, College policies and procedures
- Coordinate, create and maintain all emergency management planning documents including COOP, EOP, communications protocols, Family Assistance Center Plan, and Emergency Action Plan
- Collaborate with Emergency Management Coordinator/Trainer on compliance, delivery and after-action reporting
- Prepare reports of findings, recommendations and justifications for changes to the Director of OEMS
- Represent the College on committees and external groups to advance emergency preparedness and planning
- May perform other assigned duties and assist during emergency declarations by the Governor
