Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous dietary experience preferred but not required
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to adhere to facility policies and procedures
- Ability to comply with federal, state and local health regulations
- Capability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds
- Ability to work three 12-hour shifts and one 6-hour shift per week
- Must be willing to work rotating weekends
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English
- Basic computer and mathematical skills
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds
- Ability to maneuver and push food delivery carts
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Willingness to work full-time hours with a rotating weekend schedule
Job Duties
- Help patients understand their menu selections and work with nursing to ensure their orders comply with nutritional requirements or restrictions
- Work with caregivers and culinary team to determine menu alternatives for patients with allergies, sensitivities, or specific cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences
- Manage tray tickets and assemble meals accurately and timely
- Retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times
- Comply with regulatory agency standards including federal, state, and JCAHO
- Adhere to facility confidentiality policies and HIPAA guidelines
- Follow HACCP guidelines and infection control policies when handling food and cleaning
- Assist dietitians by monitoring patients on liquid diets or specific calorie counts
- Communicate patient concerns to appropriate personnel timely
- Complete required reports as outlined in company policies
- Comply with health and sanitation regulations and department procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
