Job Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent, two years of related work experience may substitute
- One year of food service experience in general food preparation, food safety, and sanitation
- Proficiency in cashiering and Microsoft Office
- Proficient in basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication
- Completion of ASD Serving It Safe food safety course and passing exam within 21 calendar days of hire
- Preferred one year of supervisory experience
- Experience training kitchen staff
- Knowledge of pre-plate and centralized food prep and delivery
- Previous food service manager experience
- Experience working with point of sale and inventory management systems
Job Qualifications

- Experience with food service point of sale and inventory management systems
Job Duties
- Manage all food and supply inventories, ordering, production records, cash handling, bank deposits and paperwork submission
- Ensure meals are prepared on schedule for the estimated number of students
- Monitor and record kitchen equipment temperatures, proper food heating and cooling times and temperatures according to HACCP requirements
- Resolve complaints timely and communicate concerns to supervisor
- Train, supervise, and evaluate school cafeteria assistants
- Coordinate employee timecards and leave requests with supervisor
- Ensure meal program preparation and organize kitchen staff work
- Maintain sanitation and food safety regulations
- Maintain NSLP compliance for Free and Reduced meals and keep accurate records
- Submit maintenance requests and report major maintenance issues
- Adhere to Student Nutrition Department and Anchorage School District policies
- Understand USDA and State meal pattern and service requirements
- Plan, organize and make decisions independently in a fast-paced environment
- Assign and direct student aides and substitute employees
- Establish positive working relationships with students, staff, ASD staff, and the public
