Job Requirements
- Masters degree
- Valid Texas assistant principal or equivalent certification
- Certification in T-TESS appraisal system
- Minimum three years experience as a classroom teacher
- Strong understanding of school operations and management
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds
- Proficient in curriculum and instructional evaluation
- Capable of coordinating campus programs and support services
- Ability to maintain compliance with laws and board policies
- Capacity to manage personnel evaluations and staff development
- Willingness to travel within district as needed
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress with frequent interruptions
Job Qualifications
- Masters degree
- Texas assistant principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
- Certified in T-TESS appraisal system
- Three years experience as a classroom teacher
- Thorough understanding of school operations
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coordinate campus support operations
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
- Ability to implement policy and procedures
- Ability to interpret data
Job Duties
- Participate in development and evaluation of educational program
- Encourage and support development and evaluation of instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate
- Promote the use of technology in the teaching–learning process
- Promote a positive, caring climate for learning
- Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Communicate effectively with students and staff
- Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members
- Help principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators
- Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences
- Serve as second appraiser for the designated teacher appraisal system
- Assist Principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff
- Supervise operations in principal's absence
- Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules
- Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance clerk on follow-up investigations
- Work with department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs

- Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers
- Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment
- Articulate the school's mission to community and solicit its support in realizing its mission
- Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement
- Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the school principal
- Supervise teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent
