Job Requirements
- Basic personal computer skills are required as well as the ability to learn word-processing, spreadsheet and other software programs
- Filing, typing, and record keeping as needed
- Frequently required to walk, sit and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to stand and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Local travel required
- Statewide and out of state travel may be required
Job Qualifications
- High school education or completion of GED required
- Two years experience working with older adults
- Experience in large scale meal preparation
- Valid Washington State drivers license
- Able to pass a criminal background fingerprint check and drug screen
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook food for the elders lunch program and ensure meals adhere to USDA required nutritional standards
- Deliver to elders residences of the S'Klallam community when necessary
- Plan cycle menus with Tribal nutritionist
- Participate in large-scale preparation and service of food
- Prepare main entrees as directed and anticipate preliminary preparation for next day's meals
- Prepare meals according to standard recipes, menus, or verbal instructions
- Inspect food being prepared to ensure proper quantity, quality, and handling
- Operate cooking and kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, choppers, shredders, steamers, grills, grinders, steam kettles, fry kettles and other food equipment
- Assist in preparing menus and determining amount of food to meet menu requirements, keep records, make reports, plan meals, adjust recipes to volume of demand
- Accommodate special staff meetings and food preparation for elder population
- Perform other duties as assigned and appropriate
