Job Requirements

  • A health and safety certification recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) such as STSC or ability to obtain one within the first six months of employment
  • valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • OSHA 30-hour general industry or construction safety training
  • maintained competency by having 24-hours of documented formal classroom or online safety training within the past five years
  • EM-385 courses preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of cumulative safety experience within the last ten years managing or implementing a safety program on marine construction projects
  • advanced knowledge of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations
  • ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
  • experience on EM-385 projects (NAVFAC / USACE) preferred
  • intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint) required

Job Duties

  • Assist the Superintendents by recommending safe work practices as part of preplanning and training
  • establish jobsite safety procedures
  • participate in morning project meetings and kick-off meetings
  • conduct comprehensive on-site safety assessments as part of constant monitoring process
  • conduct daily jobsite assessments and document all safety violations or unsafe conditions/activities
  • ensure corrective measures are immediately implemented
  • communicate regularly with Superintendents, Foremen and craft concerning safety practices observed, both positive and negative
  • educate project personnel through on-the-job training such as toolbox meetings, one on one conversations, and impromptu gatherings
  • assist the Superintendent in completing the Weekly Jobsite Safety Checklists and maintain an updated safety deficiency list
  • assure that Incident Reporting and Investigations are done and may accompany injured employees for medical treatment and evaluation
  • administer the Manson Alcohol and Substance Abuse Policy on the project and ensure appropriate protocol is followed
  • assist project management with guidance and direction of project personnel related to requirements for safe practices
  • accompany safety, health and insurance personnel on tours of the project as needed
  • furnish information and assist project and corporate personnel in preparing appeals for possible safety violations/citations
  • coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors
  • assist the Superintendent in investigating property damage and personal injury incidents
  • schedule and arrange crew training for various required EHS courses such as first aid training
  • develop the job specific Emergency Management Plan and communicate through orientation to all project personnel
  • ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • maintain safety files and records on project Share Point site daily
  • ensure company EHS policies and procedures are communicated, understood and implemented consistently
  • advocate the Manson culture and promote Incident and Injury Free (IIF) within the workforce
  • ensure compliance with Manson’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct
  • perform additional duties as assigned
