Job Requirements

  • permanent civil service status as administrative project manager
  • baccalaureate degree or equivalent experience
  • five years full-time satisfactory experience in engineering design or construction planning
  • two years administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience
  • knowledge of federal, state and local EHS regulations
  • strong communication skills
  • valid New York State driver’s license

Job Qualifications

  • baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration
  • five years of experience in planning, administering, or expediting engineering design or construction projects
  • two years in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity
  • knowledge of OSHA, NYSDOL, NYSDEC, USEPA, NYCDOB, FDNY EHS rules and regulations
  • certification from Board of Safety Professionals or American Board of Industrial Hygiene preferred
  • experience in construction safety and EHS compliance
  • familiarity with ISO-type EHS Management Systems
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to work independently
  • valid New York State driver’s license

Job Duties

  • serve as primary BEDC contact for EHS needs during capital project lifecycle
  • oversee EHS performance for portfolio of construction projects
  • monitor compliance with EHS regulations and BEDC standards
  • organize EHS project meetings and recommend program improvements
  • review designs and contract specifications for EHS compliance
  • attend pre-bid, pre-award, and pre-construction meetings
  • manage EHS support during construction including training and incident investigations
