Job Requirements

  • Ability to report for assigned shift on time
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks after training
  • Ability to consistently complete full shift as assigned
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 75 pounds, carrying up to 35 pounds, pushing or pulling weights up to 115 pounds
  • Ability to work with acidic, alkaline, and solvent chemicals using proper procedures and PPE
  • Must be able to stand for full 8-hour shifts
  • Willingness to respond rapidly to emergencies and special cleaning needs
  • Must maintain respectful and cheerful demeanor when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens (Category A) compliance
  • Ability to follow all regulatory and safety guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • One to two years of experience in housekeeping or service work, preferably in a healthcare facility
  • Ability to demonstrate skills in thorough 10-step cleaning process after training
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete assigned duty list
  • Strong verbal and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English

Job Duties

  • Perform thorough 10-step cleaning and servicing of assigned hospital areas
  • Complete tasks efficiently with cheerfulness and respect for patients, visitors, and staff
  • Clean patient rooms, care areas, departments, offices, nursing stations, utility rooms, kitchens, lounges, public waiting rooms, lobbies, restrooms, elevators, and corridors
  • Perform related duties such as bed moves, cleaning of IV poles and pumps, cleaning of portable potties, and stocking supplies
  • Respond rapidly and with urgency to emergencies, special cleaning needs, stat discharge cleanings, and spills
  • Maintain excellent verbal and oral communication skills for effective interaction with employees, patients, families, visitors, and customers
  • Adhere to Frederick Health mission, vision, core values, customer service philosophy, compliance program, and regulatory requirements
