Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • two years of post-high school work experience in customer service or related environment
  • ability to multitask and work in a call center environment
  • computer proficiency and ability to learn specialized state systems
  • excellent communication and customer service skills
  • valid Wisconsin driver's license
  • prompt and regular attendance
  • ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • willingness to learn and apply federal, state, and county policies and procedures
  • strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

Job Qualifications

  • Experience working in a call center environment preferred
  • high school diploma or GED required
  • sixty credits post-secondary education preferred
  • two years post-high school work experience in customer service or similar environment
  • post-secondary degree may substitute for work experience
  • two years of experience using computers in a fast-paced work environment
  • experience or ability to learn eligibility determination for public assistance programs
  • experience working with individuals of varying socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • valid Wisconsin driver's license
  • prompt and regular attendance
  • familiarity with Wisconsin CARES system or willingness to acquire proficiency within six months
  • demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • ability to follow computer and data security protocols
  • ability to learn quickly, apply new information, and make sound independent decisions

Job Duties

  • Work in a call center environment
  • take calls and answer customer questions
  • process applications and review cases
  • assess eligibility for various economic public assistance programs
  • multitask and assist with call center duties
  • process documentation provided by customers
  • make independent decisions
  • provide information on programs of assistance and community resources
  • deliver excellent customer service with sensitivity to cultural and economic diversity
  • learn and use state computer systems such as Cares Worker Web, Host on Demand, and Forward Health
  • prepare notices for assistance programs
  • determine referrals and exemptions for employment programs
  • report suspected fraud to Program and Integrity units
  • stay current on federal, state, and county regulations
  • maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • assist in Quality Assurance reviews
  • complete state-required training
  • address customers' and employees' concerns courteously and promptly
  • qualify for telework opportunities
