Job Requirements

  • Valid Los Angeles Unified School District Food Handler's Health Certificate
  • successful completion of fingerprinting and background investigation
  • physical ability to stand, walk, bend, crawl, climb, reach overhead, crouch, kneel, balance, push, pull, and lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • ability to perform detailed cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • availability to work in an Early Education Center environment

Job Qualifications

  • A valid Los Angeles Unified School District Food Handler’s Health Certificate obtained upon appointment
  • knowledge of proper cleaning materials and sanitation methods
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • physical ability to perform housekeeping tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • sound judgment and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • positive and cooperative demeanor when interacting with children and center personnel

Job Duties

  • Cleaning and washing tables and chairs
  • mopping floors
  • vacuuming carpeted areas
  • collecting dirty linen
  • preparing laundry slips
  • receiving, counting, and storing clean linen
  • dusting furniture and cupboards
  • straightening, stacking, and scrubbing cots
  • emptying waste baskets and disposing of waste materials
  • sweeping or hosing walks and maintaining other outside areas
  • cleaning classrooms, halls, offices, and bathrooms as necessary
  • removing spots from floors, walks, woodwork, furniture and fixtures
  • replacing incandescent bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and electrical plug fuses
  • receiving, checking, and storing housekeeping supplies
  • moving desks, chairs, tables, and equipment to prepare rooms for cleaning or meetings
  • assisting in serving prepared meals
