Job Description

As part of this commitment, the City operates child care centers that strictly adhere to the Broward County Child Care Ordinance and the Early Childhood Policies and Procedure Manual. These centers aim to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety to foster a healthy and nurturing environment for children and staff alike. The City is currently looking for a part-time Custodian to join its team, responsible for upholding these cleanliness standards through diligent maintenance and housekeeping duties.

Job Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
Must pass background screening through Broward County Child Care Licensing
Must provide physician's statement of good health for child care center personnel
Physically qualified to care for children and free of communicable diseases
Required to obtain minimum 45 hours of childcare training within 90 days of hire
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Some experience in commercial cleaning or equivalent training and experience
Valid Florida driver's license
Good moral character

Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods and practices
Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment
Ability to use and maintain a variety of cleaning equipment

Ability to demonstrate polite, helpful, and courteous manner
Ability to operate and care for equipment to manufacturer’s specifications
Ability to demonstrate respect for cultural, religious, and gender differences

Job Duties

Clean required areas of facilities including trash removal and custodial activities
Implement and direct cleaning of the facility
Work with full time employees to develop cleaning plan and procedures
Prepare and maintain all necessary materials to complete daily cleaning assignments
Report safety hazards to supervisor and assure all safety regulations and requirements are adhered to
Meet and maintain requirements of a person working in a licensed childcare facility
Follow and maintain all requirements necessary for the Family Central Child Care Food Program
Maintain high moral standards and be well disposed around children
Perform related duties as required
