Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- at least 6 years of progressive hotel sales experience or a 4-year college degree and at least 3 years of related experience or a 2-year college degree and at least 5 years of hotel sales experience
- supervisory experience
- valid driver's license in the applicable state
- proficiency in MS Windows applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- ability to multitask and prioritize work
- maintain high personal appearance and grooming standards
- comply with company policies and safety regulations
- attend required meetings and trainings
- maintain regular attendance
- able to preserve confidentiality
- effective problem-solving skills
Job Qualifications
- At least 6 years of progressive hotel sales experience or a 4-year college degree and at least 3 years of related experience or a 2-year college degree and at least 5 years of hotel sales experience
- supervisory experience required
- must have a driver’s license in the applicable state
- must be proficient in MS Windows including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests
- must be effective at listening, understanding, and clarifying concerns
- must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
- approach all encounters in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner
- attend required meetings and trainings
- participate in management on duty coverage
- maintain regular attendance according to Highgate standards
- maintain high standards of appearance and grooming
- comply with Highgate standards and regulations
- maximize productivity efforts and assist in problem-solving
- effective in handling problems including anticipating and resolving
- able to understand and evaluate complex information

Job Duties
- Supervise, administer and ensure timely completion of all activities of the Sales Department
- develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations
- develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and standard operating procedures and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales team
- develop and maintain market awareness to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies
- meet or exceed set sales goals
- operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget
- coordinate group, transient and catering bookings to maximize profits
- initiate and follow up on sales leads
- maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program
- monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate market trends
- administer training in the Sales and Catering departments according to Highgate standards
- conduct weekly sales meetings
- develop quarterly key result areas and review them with the team
- conduct daily business review meetings with operations and management
- conduct all sales and catering team performance appraisals
- motivate, coach, counsel and discipline sales personnel
- review client feedback and ensure any issues are resolved
- conduct thorough site inspections with clients and ensure sales managers do the same
- develop competitive strategies to increase market share
- manage sales through computerized sales systems
- monitor and administer sales incentive plans
- ensure sales trips align with budget and goals
- coordinate preparation of monthly and annual reports and revenue forecasts
- meet and greet onsite contacts
- abide by Prime Selling Time and ensure team compliance
- understand GDS and ISIS systems
- develop networking opportunities
- entertain clients
- react to negative market trends with promotions
- handle inquiries for Inquiry Day Program
- participate in required management coverage.
