Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times
- adheres to hospital policies and procedures
- demonstrates ethical business practices and adheres to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines
- exercises appropriate age-specific communication skills with customers, patients, and families
- exercises appropriate age-specific safety practices, such as locking cleaning carts to prevent children accessing chemicals
- selects and transports cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment to work area
- cleans assigned areas including furniture, floors, fixtures, restrooms, sinks, tubs, showers, curtains, equipment, ledges, walls, doors, vents, televisions, windows, carpets, baseboards, corners, desks, countertops, phones, water fountains, ice machines, elevators, and stairwells
- follows Environmental Services / Sodexo Shine cleaning procedures
- cleans and disinfects following infection control protocol and standards
- cleans and disinfects beds and cribs
- removes and replaces cubicle curtains
- transports beds, cribs, and furniture as needed
- cleans spills, broken glass, body fluids, and large volumes of water
- performs floor care including carpet extraction/shampooing, stain removal, buffing, stripping, scrubbing, and refinishing
- performs daily, discharge, and terminal cleaning of patient rooms and isolation rooms
- performs daily cleaning of offices, ancillary, public areas, and restrooms
- replenishes supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissues, and hand soap
- returns unused supplies to janitor's closet
- cleans cart, equipment, and janitor closets at shift end
- reports needed repairs and safety hazards
- adjusts schedule to department needs
- collects, transports, and disposes of regular, infectious, and recycled waste
- adheres to infection control guidelines
- performs urgent 'STATS' cleaning requests without delay
- demonstrates good knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- adheres to hospital and department attendance guidelines
- attends department meetings and in-services
- demonstrates good knowledge of Fire Plan, Disaster Plan, and other codes
- communicates with supervisors on areas needing guidance
- performs other duties as assigned
