Job Duties

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times
  • adheres to hospital policies and procedures
  • demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines
  • exercising appropriate age-specific communication skills when interacting with customers, patients, and families
  • exercising appropriate age-specific practices when interacting with customers, patients, and families
  • selects cleaning supplies, materials, equipment and transports to work area
  • cleans assigned areas by cleaning furniture, floors, fixtures, restrooms, sinks, tubs, showers, and curtains, equipment, ledges, walls, doors and frames, vents, televisions, windows and frames, carpets, baseboards, corners and edges, desks, countertops, phones, water fountains, ice machines, elevators and stairwells
  • clean assigned areas by following Environmental Services / Sodexo Shine cleaning procedures
  • clean and disinfect following infection control protocol and standards
  • clean and disinfect beds and cribs
  • remove and replace cubicle curtains
  • transport beds, cribs, and furniture as needed
  • cleans spills, broken glass, body fluids in general, and large volume of water
  • performs floor care that consists of extracting and/or shampooing carpets, spot removing stains, buffing floors, stripping/scrubbing and refinishing floors
  • performs daily cleaning of patient rooms
  • performs discharge cleaning of patient rooms
  • performs daily cleaning and terminal cleaning of isolation rooms
  • performs daily cleaning of offices and ancillary areas
  • performs daily cleaning of public areas and restrooms
  • replenishes supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissues, and hand soap
  • return unused supplies to janitor's closet
  • cleans cart, equipment and janitor closets when shift ends
  • report needed repairs and safety hazards
  • ability to adjust schedule to meet department needs and changes
  • collects, transports, and disposes regular wastes, infectious wastes, and recycled wastes
  • adheres to infection control guidelines
  • performs all "STATS" cleaning requests without delay
  • demonstrates good knowledge of the use of Personal Protective 'equipment (PPE)
  • adheres to hospital and department attendance guidelines
  • adheres to hospital and department health and educational requirements
  • attends department meetings and in-services
  • demonstrates good knowledge of Fire Plan, Disaster Plan, and other DCH codes
  • communicates with supervisors on areas that need clarification of guidance
  • other duties as assigned
