Job Requirements

  • Associate Degree in food service management, nutritional care, or related field and at least one year of food service supervisory experience
  • Or Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in restaurant or hotel management, or closely related field
  • Or High School Diploma or GED with at least four years of experience in industrial, commercial, or institutional food service or patient tray service, including at least one year in a lead, supervisory, or equivalent role
  • Experience working in healthcare, correctional, or state-operated food service environment
  • Familiarity with Computrition or similar menu management systems
  • ServSafe Manager Certification
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Valid driver’s license for employees driving on state business
  • Liability insurance for employees driving privately owned vehicles on state business

Job Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in food service management, nutritional care, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in restaurant or hotel management, or a closely related field
  • High School Diploma or GED with at least four years of experience in industrial, commercial, or institutional food service or patient tray service, including at least one year in a lead, supervisory, or equivalent role
  • Experience working in a healthcare, correctional, or state-operated food service environment
  • Familiarity with Computrition or similar menu management systems
  • ServSafe Manager Certification
  • Completion of a recognized culinary, dietetic, or institutional food management program
  • Knowledge of large-scale food preparation, production scheduling, food safety, and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to lead, train, and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills

Job Duties

  • Supervise daily food production to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established menus and diet orders
  • Plan, organize, and direct the work of Cooks, Food Service Workers, and other assigned staff in production areas
  • Monitor food quality, portion control, and temperature logs to maintain compliance with HACCP and Department of Health standards
  • Maintain production schedules, standardized recipes, and batch cooking procedures using Computrition or equivalent software
  • Conduct regular inspections of production areas to ensure cleanliness, equipment functionality, and food safety compliance
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate food service staff, fostering teamwork, efficiency, and accountability
  • Collaborate with Supervisors from Assembly, Warewashing, and Ward Service to ensure seamless meal service operations
  • Maintain inventory levels and assist with ordering food and supplies within budgetary guidelines
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and department meetings
