Job Requirements
- Associate Degree in food service management, nutritional care, or related field and at least one year of food service supervisory experience
- Or Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in restaurant or hotel management, or closely related field
- Or High School Diploma or GED with at least four years of experience in industrial, commercial, or institutional food service or patient tray service, including at least one year in a lead, supervisory, or equivalent role
- Experience working in healthcare, correctional, or state-operated food service environment
- Familiarity with Computrition or similar menu management systems
- ServSafe Manager Certification
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals
- Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver’s license for employees driving on state business
- Liability insurance for employees driving privately owned vehicles on state business
Job Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED with at least four years of experience in industrial, commercial, or institutional food service or patient tray service, including at least one year in a lead, supervisory, or equivalent role
- Experience working in a healthcare, correctional, or state-operated food service environment
- Familiarity with Computrition or similar menu management systems
- ServSafe Manager Certification
- Completion of a recognized culinary, dietetic, or institutional food management program
- Knowledge of large-scale food preparation, production scheduling, food safety, and sanitation procedures
- Ability to lead, train, and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
Job Duties
- Supervise daily food production to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established menus and diet orders
- Plan, organize, and direct the work of Cooks, Food Service Workers, and other assigned staff in production areas
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and temperature logs to maintain compliance with HACCP and Department of Health standards
- Maintain production schedules, standardized recipes, and batch cooking procedures using Computrition or equivalent software
- Conduct regular inspections of production areas to ensure cleanliness, equipment functionality, and food safety compliance
- Train, mentor, and evaluate food service staff, fostering teamwork, efficiency, and accountability
- Collaborate with Supervisors from Assembly, Warewashing, and Ward Service to ensure seamless meal service operations
- Maintain inventory levels and assist with ordering food and supplies within budgetary guidelines
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and department meetings
