Job Description

The Dry Dock is a well-known and beloved restaurant located in Portland, Maine's vibrant Old Port district. Originally opened in 1983, this two-story waterfront establishment closed in 2018 but experienced an exciting revival with its reopening in the summer of 2025. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a food service or hospitality role preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Willingness to work Monday through Thursday morning shifts
  • Must tolerate exposure to shellfish allergens
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and attitude

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience in hosting, bussing, or food running in a high-volume setting preferred
  • Friendly, team-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional guest service
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and attitude
  • Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 10-25 lbs as needed
  • Ability to handle shellfish and tolerate exposure to shellfish allergen

Job Duties

  • Greet and engage guests warmly, assisting with seating and any immediate needs
  • Clear and reset tables efficiently, maintaining a clean and organized dining room
  • Deliver food and beverages accurately and promptly from kitchen or bar to tables
  • Assist servers, runners, and other team members as needed to ensure smooth service
  • Maintain service stations, including stocking napkins, silverware, condiments, and to-go supplies
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and compliance guidelines while handling food, beverages, and equipment
  • Communicate clearly with team members and managers about guest needs, inventory, or service issues
  • Stay alert and proactive, anticipating guest needs and helping wherever needed
