Job Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in a service-oriented role or related experience
  • Lives within 25 miles or a reasonable distance of the designated airport location
  • Flexible availability including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays, and potential overnight stays
  • Ability to deescalate tense situations and maintain calm
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with ability to multitask and work independently
  • Ability to maintain confidential data
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Energetic attitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle physical tasks including lifting up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to walk long distances, stand for long periods and navigate stairs
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Preferred: Certification in DOT drug test collections and alcohol testing
  • Knowledge of 49 CFR Part 40 and 14 CFR Part 120 regulations
  • Certified Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational applications like Smartsheet, JCTE, FOGS, and PeopleSoft
  • Experience in drug and alcohol specimen collection or medical experience
  • Ability to conduct training and facilitate presentations

Job Duties

  • Administers drug test and alcohol collections in accordance with federal regulations, state laws and the Alaska Airlines Drug and Alcohol Policy
  • Follows established procedures with discretion to enforce direct-observation specimen collections and find alternative support as required
  • Determines when to declare a refusal to test based on regulatory parameters and reports occurrences to the Designated Employer Representative
  • Schedules and completes tests of various workgroups with complex work hours, assisting with scheduling own work hours to meet business needs efficiently
  • Documents and processes expenses incurred during work accurately
  • Guides frontline leaders in various drug and alcohol testing scenarios and interpretation of federal regulations and company policies
  • Secures, maintains, and orders testing supplies as necessary
  • Provides expert testimony in FAA, NTSB, state investigations, and labor hearings when needed
  • Travels for business including nights, weekends, holidays and occasional overnight stays
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or dictated by situations
