Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid New Mexico Class D Driver's License
  • Ability to pass county paid pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening
  • Ability to pass county paid criminal background check
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, talk, hear, taste and smell as required
  • Willingness to work irregular, extended, weekend, holiday, or evening hours
  • Ability to use protective clothing and equipment
  • Commitment to upholding ethics in client services

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid New Mexico Class D Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Defensive driving certification or ability to obtain
  • Experience in driving and transporting elderly or disabled clients preferred
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety regulations
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to maintain food handling safety standards
  • Ability to work with seniors and handle difficult clients with empathy
  • Ability to prepare logs and reports
  • Ability to speak Spanish preferred

Job Duties

  • Transport home delivered meals to client residences
  • Provide transportation to senior citizens for appointments, activities, and vacations
  • Assist senior citizens and ADA clients entering and exiting vehicles, including securing oxygen tanks, groceries, furniture, and wheelchairs
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and safety according to county policies and regulations
  • Fuel, wash, clean, and perform basic maintenance on vehicles
  • Report any vehicle mechanical issues, damage, or accidents to supervisor immediately
  • Assist Cook in kitchen and dining area cleaning and meal packaging
  • Conduct basic welfare checks of clients and report concerns to Senior Services staff
