Job Requirements
- Valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- capability to work indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions
- willingness to work irregular, extended, evening, weekend and holiday hours
- pass pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening
- pass criminal background check
- use protective clothing and equipment as required
- ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, taste, smell, talk and hear regularly
- tolerance to dust, fumes, noise, hazardous equipment and hostile individuals
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience in driving passenger vehicles safely
- knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance
- knowledge of traffic and safety rules
- understanding of institutional food preparation and storage requirements
- ability to communicate effectively with staff and public
- ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- strong ethics and professionalism when working with seniors and difficult clients
- ability to maintain knowledge of safe food handling techniques
- defensive driving certification
- ability to prepare logs and reports
- Spanish language skills preferred
Job Duties
- Transports home delivered meals to client residences
- provides transportation to senior citizens for appointments, activities, and vacations
- personally assists senior citizens and ADA clients from their homes into vehicles including securing, loading and unloading oxygen, groceries, furniture, wheelchairs, and other supplies
- maintains vehicle in a safe and clean condition according to policies and regulations
- fuels, washes, cleans and conducts basic maintenance on vehicles
- cleans vehicle and performs daily interior/exterior inspections
- completes daily reports and discloses vehicle problems or accidents immediately to supervisor
- assists Cook in kitchen and dining area cleaning and in packaging meals and snacks
- conducts basic welfare checks of clients and reports concerns to appropriate Senior Services staff
