Job Requirements

  • 4-10 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Type 3 driver’s license
  • Must obtain a CDL B or higher within three months of hire with a P endorsement and be qualified to obtain an S endorsement
  • Must be able to work various shifts including weekends, afternoons, evenings, and holidays
  • Working knowledge of island history, streets, and hotel locations
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Effective public speaking skills
  • Proficient in typing reports and correspondence
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Problem definition and data collection skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled in use of computers and technology
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Leadership and team motivation skills
  • Ability to provide feedback and coaching

Job Qualifications

  • Valid CDL B or A license
  • Eligible to obtain S endorsement
  • Certification to train safety, wheelchair/ADA, service with Aloha, CDL upgrade phases 1 and 2, maritime security, pre/post trip and DVIR, CMV driver basics, and green road safety
  • Demonstrated effective coaching and performance development skills
  • Ability to set ground rules and lead training sessions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Capability to evaluate and develop driver performance
  • Experience conducting both classroom and field training
  • 4-10 years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to obtain a CDL B with P and S endorsements within 3 months of hire
  • Meets D.O.T physical and Functional Capacity Exam requirements

Job Duties

  • Prepares classroom and office for daily training
  • Prepares training materials such as handouts, tests, and videos
  • Administers tests to trainees
  • Prepares daily training agendas
  • Produces company IDs for new and replacement employees
  • Communicates with various departments
  • Reports key performance indicator data as required
  • Represents the company at recruitment events and hiring sessions
  • Attends all meetings
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Sets ground rules for training sessions including punctuality, attire, attitude, and commitment
  • Provides training for obtaining CDL and Safety Endorsements
  • Presents Defensive Driving and Customer Service Courses
  • Conducts Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid training
  • Performs driver surveillance to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policies
  • Evaluates driver performance across transportation divisions
  • Conducts a minimum of four weekly field observations
  • Conducts remedial training sessions for drivers as needed
  • Conducts monthly tailgate meetings
  • Executes road evaluations
  • Trains on all courses offered by the safety department
  • Establishes positive relationships with drivers and aides to encourage safety culture
  • Coordinates with departments such as Express, Tours & Transportation, School Bus, Dispatch, and Baggage
  • Relocates buses as needed
  • Fills in for dispatch and driving duties as necessary
  • Covers other trainers when required
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or requested
