Job Requirements

  • 4-10 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Type 3 Driver's License
  • Able to obtain CDL B or higher with P endorsement within three months of hire
  • Must be able to work various shifts including weekends, afternoons, evenings, and holidays
  • Working knowledge of island geography including history, streets, and hotels
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals
  • Effective public speaking skills
  • Able to type reports and correspondence
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Problem-solving skills including data collection and fact-finding
  • Ability to manage a diverse group of people
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills and adaptability to new technologies
  • Ability to make timely and sometimes difficult decisions
  • Leadership skills with ability to motivate, coach, and mentor employees
  • Target and achieve results
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and accept accountability
  • Medium work physical demands including occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Possesses valid CDL B or A license
  • Eligible to obtain an S endorsement
  • Able to obtain CDL B with P and S endorsements within 3 months of hire
  • Meets physical requirements to pass D.O.T. physical with company physician
  • Meets Functional Capacity Exam requirements
  • Demonstrates effective coaching and performance development skills
  • Meets all essential job function qualifications
  • Qualified to conduct CDL Phase 1 and 2 training for school bus and motor coach vehicles
  • Qualified for Express Shuttle and Airport Shuttle training
  • Qualified for Behind the Wheel training on all vehicle types
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Email, and Word
  • Supervisory experience including conducting investigations, coaching, and disciplinary actions
  • Experience training new trainers
  • Experienced in setting safety and service standards
  • Skilled in delivering training on tour science and other specialized courses

Job Duties

  • Prepares classroom and office for daily training
  • Prepares materials for classroom use including handouts, tests, and videos
  • Administers tests to trainees
  • Prepares daily training agendas
  • Produces company IDs for new or replacement employees
  • Communicates with various departments and reports key performance indicator data
  • Represents the company at recruitment events and hires employees
  • Attends all meetings
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word for training and reporting
  • Sets ground rules for training including punctuality, attire, and materials
  • Provides training for obtaining CDL Class B with Passenger and S endorsements
  • Presents Defensive Driving Course
  • Conducts Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid training
  • Participates in driver surveillance to ensure compliance with DOT and company policies
  • Evaluates driver performance across transportation divisions
  • Instructs Customer Service and Tour Classes to improve service standards
  • Conducts weekly field observations
  • Delivers remedial training sessions for drivers needing improvement
  • Conducts monthly tailgate meetings
  • Executes road evaluations
  • Trains all courses offered by the safety department
  • Sets a safety example for the company
  • Engages with drivers and aides fostering positive safety cultures
  • Collaborates with multiple departments as a support unit
  • Relocates buses as needed
  • Fills in for dispatch
  • Performs driving duties as required
  • Covers for other trainers
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or requested
